Great Cruise by
Keith H. from Lakeland, FL Sailing date: Apr 2013Pros: The Blue Iguana Cantina and Guy's Burger Joint Cons: Not enough shade in Serenity, confusion on the first Tender boat procedures Awesome staff, food, service, and value. Josh, the cruise director was awesome. JoMar, our room steward was very friendly and did a good job on our room. The destinations were wonderful. Ship QualityGreat layout, except Serenity needs more shade, but we love Serenity. Dining/FoodBuffet was average, Dinning rooms were great! But the best food was the Blue Iguana Burrito Station. We ate there for breakfast and lunch several times. Stateroom QualityVery roomy for an inside cabin. TV was actually placed in the perfect spot for the room. Ship Staff QualityJoMar, our room steward was awesome. IWAN, the server at the Blue Iguana was great. Entertainment & Activities

  Excellence tinged with disppointment by
Peter M from British Virgin Islands Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: The ports of call and shore excursions, particularly in Mexico and Honduras Cons: The entertainment Refurbished in 2012 - as good as new. Wifi better than on previous cruises, though still expensive and speeds variable.
Paid $59 for entire cruise, but alternative was $34 per day (fast). Ship QualityLayout a little confusing, but deck plans by each elevator. Very clean Dining/FoodExcellent quality and quantity of food in dining rooms and various buffet stations. Always found a seat, but sometimes chose good continental breakfast to avoid lines at Grill. Found no need to pay extra for specialities Stateroom QualityAdequate for inside cabin Ship Staff QualityVery helpfil & friendly, from Captain to cleaners Entertainment & ActivitiesEvening shows disappointing - dramatic effects & dancing, but routines unoriginal & songs mediocre; no cinema - large screen over outside pool, noisy during day and blustery at night. Cabin TV good for cruise info, some pay-for-view movies but otherwise very limited 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Amazing cruise! by
Amanda W. from Boston, MA Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: ports visited, casino, shows, activities Cons: the food We had such a great cruise week 1 that we called and extended our stay for a second week. We got to see 8 ports of the cruise which was amazing. AA cruises informed me there were no opening for the second week but offered to call and see if anyone cancelled. They were wonderful and were able to book us for a balcony room due to a last minute cancellation. We were so grateful to Eric!! Ship QualityThe ship was recently renovated and looks great. The balconies are so nice as are the dining rooms, theater and the deck. Dining/FoodI have travelled on Carnival before and found that in the past the food was better than this time. Guys burger station and the deli were good, but other than that the buffets were lacking. The sit down dinner was better the second week. Week 1 we were in the golden dining room at the late seating and since this was the same dining room with the anytime dining many times our food was slightly cold and a little old. It was fresher week two which was better. Stateroom Qualityweek 1 we had an interior room which was located on deck 1. It was clean and nice. We upgraded to a balcony week 2 which was very nice and more spacious and had the great balcony. Ship Staff QualityAll of the staff was incredibly nice. They made our exchange from week 1 to 2 seamless which we really appreciated. All of the casino and waitstaff were especially nice. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows on board were quite entertaining. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Great Cruise by
Big Serg from Goodyear, Arizona Sailing date: Oct 2012Pros: The Ports of Call Cons: Amount of People The overall appearance was good. Very clean and maintained. Friendly staff at port and on-board.
The main reason we chose this cruise (or any cruise) is for its itinerary. We were quite surprised on the amount of older people on this cruise. We did not see many families on board and we were probably one of the youngest. We have traveled on Holland America (Alaska) before and after this particular cruise, I would have to say that there were more seniors than Holland (which blows my mind). Carnival is known for its "fun-ship" mentality, so we were caught off-guard of the clientele. Also, the youngest age on all of our excursions from Carnival was 65. Irregardless, the ports of call is why we chose this particular cruise line. You will love New England and Canada! We liked it so much that we are planning on returning back in the next couple of years. If possible, visit in October so you can see the beautiful seasonal changes. It is worth it!! Ship QualityIf you planning to visit the library, don't. It is the size of your bedroom with very limited space for reading. Loud too due to its location. Dining/FoodThe food was not great. The quality was sub-standard and choices were limited. There are NO specialty restaurants on-board. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThe entertainment was not good because I can't even remember what it was. Apparently, not very memorable. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  A marginal cruise by
Julienne from Curacao Sailing date: Nov 2012Pros: The latin band Cons: Food It was my first cruise and I did not know that you had to pay for everything you like. I took a yoga class it cost me $12.
We took a tour in Roatan called the "discover Roatan" the tour was definitely over priced, the boat ride was a joke (they should eliminate that), the bus ride was a little bit better because you got some sightseeing. Ship QualityIt was average, my father kept tripping over the uneven floor tiles. Dining/FoodThe food was bad, the beverages were bad.
Dinning had 2 average nights. Stateroom QualityA little bit outdated, one of the mattresses was horrible but other than that it was good. Ship Staff QualityAll the staff were friendly and helpfull Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were average.
The latin band was really good
There was not much to do and the jacuzzi and pool were always full. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Convenient by
A Traveler from Vermont Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Leaving out of Manhattan; not having to fly to catch the ship Cons: Miserable service at the grill Would not put Carnival at the top of my list for future cruises. Ship QualityBuffet dining room (LIDO) was poorly laid out and hard to maneuver. Dining/FoodOne dinner was very good; others average. Desserts poor. Stateroom QualityOur stateroom (interior) was one of the largest of any ship we've been on. Bathroom was large size too. Ship Staff QualityOur stewards were great, so was the maitre'd. But they are offset by the truly miserable service at the Lido grill and the number of times personnel walked right passed us without a greeting. Entertainment & ActivitiesShows were ok; comics were better. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Good Cruise of History by
Geri M. from Oklahoma Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Our room: 7445 Cons: Organization? Ship was OK, but a bit difficult to get familiar with and learn your way around. Especially more difficult when they partitioned off various levels on the two "formal dining" nights. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDisappointed at the lack of dining options. General buffet food was mediocre. Stateroom QualityLOVED our room! If you enjoy a personal balcony, then 7445 is awesome. Corner balcony that you can see either Starboard or Aft. Could comfortably put 8 chairs on balcony. Since there were only the two of us, we had a chaise, reclining deck chair, and regular chair with two tables, and still a lot of room. Ship Staff QualityStaff were all very congenial. Our stateroom attendant was awesome! Entertainment & ActivitiesDid not do a lot of activities on ship. The "quality of instruction" was not real clear on embarking and disembarking and seemed slow and confusing. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  First-time Cruising by
Jonathan P from Bahamas Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: Food, cleanliness, friendliness of staff Cons: Queing, plastic plates/glasses, lack of enforcement of dress codes, constant push to up-sell Carnival goods and services First time cruising so did not really know what to expect. Given the price paid and recognising that there were around 3000 guests then what was provided was done well, This ship was well run, clean, with friendly and helpfull staff but they do need to enforce their own rules - dress code in particular. I found it off-putting that I had to stand in line for breakfast with some large individual wearing only a bathing suit despite dress codes rules. The food was good considering the price paid. Ship QualityOverall good. Decor a bit 'blng' for my tastes but I guess it works for some. Signage was poor - the neon signs for each venue looked home made!. Need more litter bins in public areas. Dining/FoodReasonable considering cost of cruise. It was not haute-cuisine but what was provided was well prepared and presented Stateroom QualitySuprisingly good and better than expected. It was not large but then this is a ship's cabin afterall. Comfortable bed and good quality linen. Room serviced twice a day Ship Staff QualityVery friendly and helpful Entertainment & ActivitiesThis was the worst part - not to my liking really. A couple of shows were ok but all a bit - 'holiday camp'. Children's ProgramsGreat - hardly saw my little one which I think pleased is all! 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
