First cruise, overall satisfied by
Jeremy from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Food, friendly staff Cons: Ports of Call As this was my first cruise I do not have much to compare, but the ship was amazing, the staff was excellent. I was truly amazed and cannot wait to take my next cruise with RCL. I was a little upset that they would not allow me to bring back on some candy that I had purchased in Key West. Also, the location of the dock in KW where the ship was to arrive was changed and the staff seemed unable to plan. This made getting off the ship a nightmare and left little time to explore the city. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food was great. The group dining in the evening was an experience. We were sat with some great people, and it also made me wonder how RCL assigns the seating. Stateroom QualityAgain, with nothing to compare to, the balcony room as a decent size. It was a little tight with two people attempting to maneuver around to get dressed, but who goes on a cruise to spend much time in their cabin anyway? Ship Staff QualityThe crew onboard the Jewel were amazing. Steve, the cruise director, was beyond entertaining. Our head and assistant waiter, Nenad and Jayson, were champs for putting up with our warped humor and Cassandra our suite attendant was always friendly and attentive. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe did not attend many of the activities, but everyone else seemed to really enjoy them 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Relaxing and Exciting by
A Traveler from Dallas Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Ease in moving about the ship Cons: Small stateroom Jewel of the Sea a beautiful ship with spacious open areas. Our stateroom attendant was very helpful and pleasant.
Dining room staff was attentive, but seemed to push for a good review toward the end of the cruise. We found the food in the dining room to be good with an adaquate number of choices.
We did not particate in many of the activities onboard, but did enjoy a massage one day. That was very relaxing but found the 'sales pitch' for products to be disappointing end to a wonderful experience.
This cruise is recommended highly. Great ports and a very nice experience all around. Ship Quality

A not so wonderful Cruise by
Kathleen S from Fort Worth, TX Sailing date: Jun 2012Pros: Ports of call Cons: Many things Fairly nice ship but not nearly as good as other Royal Caribbean ships. Areas where activities were held too small and always cramped and heaving with people which meant impossible to get a seat. Entertainment lacking in so many ways. Guest Services Personelle deficient, unfriendly, unprofessional and amateurish. Ship Quality

  A Classic Ship by
Mike R from Fort Worth, TEXAS Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: The ship itself was beautiful Cons: Seaview cafe and passengers who constantly slammed or let slam their cabin door It was extremely easy to move throughout the ship. Even will a full ship the common areas were rarely crowded. Especially enjoyed being able to move thru the Windjammer easily. Ship Quality

Pushed alcohol consumption way too much by
Deb P from San Diego Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: food was good Cons: too many extras that had to be paid for; some unattentive staff Right off the bat, we were encouraged to buy alcohol. There were too many "extras" that required more charges. I'm not a regular Bingo player but I was astonished it cost almost $50 for my daughter and I to play the basic game for 1 hour. The shore excursion to Tulum was well worth the price though and the food was good but the staff wasn't particularly attentive especially after they received their gratuities Ship QualityI liked havig a large area too walk off all the calories I consumed Dining/FoodI enjoyed the food but the service was lacking. The bar staff, where the free drinks were located, was consistently inattentive (maybe because they didn't receive tips). Stateroom QualityOur stateroom attendant was lovely and gracious Ship Staff QualityNo one went above and beyond and some were even less helpful than that, especially after the tips were doled out Entertainment & ActivitiesSingers were great and dancers were very good . The revue show content wasn't phenomenal but was pleasing. The comedian was so so but comedy is't my first interest anyway 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Beautiful Boat, Very Nice People by
Jamie R from Clearwater, FL Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: Good, strong drinks. Cozumel is a great port. Cons: Bars are Understaffed. Costa Maya is a tourist trap...very expensive food and drinks. I would avoid this port if I cruise in the area again. However, it would not prevent me from taking this exact cruise again. Ship was built is 2004. Nicer than the older Carnival ships I've been on. Food is good -- always something good to eat. The "Disco" on Deck 13 is awesome and it's open late -- until around 2:30AM or so. Very nice people to meet. Ship QualityEasy to get around. GREAT pools -- 3 hot tubs (although they could use a 4th).
Dining/FoodFood was good to great depending on what you order. The "Chops" steakhouse is worth $30 -- great deal for what you get and the quality is high.
Lobster night is great -- get 2!
The bars, in general, are understaffed. You do have to wait for a drink. Stateroom QualityGet a balcony room -- it's worth it. The rooms are small (as with all ships). I weigh 160 pounds and it was tight. I cannot imagine being 300 pounds in these rooms, it would be VERY tight.
Overall, rooms are clean. One thing they need is a flat-screen TV to save space. Beds are very comfortable...slept like a baby. Ship Staff QualityVery good service in the dining hall for dinner. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  New England Cruise by
A Traveler from Auburn, CA Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: Great entertainment Cons: Dining room food was uneventful, odd parings, Windjammer was much better Ship was beautifully appointed and very well maintained. Public restrooms needed more attention particularly in busy areas such as lounges and near restaurants. Cruise Director Clo was amazing, she is a terrific asset to the line.
Moses Band was excellent, as well as the Boogies. Good choices. Ship Quality

  New England Cruise by
John G. from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: Ship's staff, cabin, dining, entertainment Cons: Some ports not that interesting The ship, the ship's staff, the food, and most of the entertainment were excellent. Bar Harbor and Halifax are great to visit; Portland, Maine, and St. John NB are less interesting. The only negative comment is that smoking is still allowed in a few public areas of the ship and on stateroom balconies. Ship QualityThere are many varied and extremely comfortable public areas. Generally enjoyed the cruise by
A Traveler from Austin , TX Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: Bar Harbor and Halifax Cons: onbooard enterrainment; two sea days, poor TV viewing options Ship was safe and clean, and the staff service was very good. The food in the Tides Dining room was average. On lobster night, the lobsters were TINY...and this was a New England cruise. The TV channel viewing options were poor...with more options suited for a European guest than USA guests. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodFood in TIDES Dining was average at best. Service was good, but the quality and preparation/presentation of the food was lacking. The Windjammer Buffet and SeaView Cafe food options/presenation was consistently very good. Stateroom QualityTV viewing options were poor. Ship Staff Quality
