  Carnival Conquest by
Trent K. from Galveston, TX Sailing date: Jun 2010Pros: The crew Cons: smoking areas This is THE best vacations I've ever taken! The crew were out of this world and all of the port of calls were phenomenal. The staterooms were one of the best Ive ever stayed in too. The interior is just enough from a family of 4 and very roomy. The top deck where everyone hangs out is just so much fun and you feel so happy all the time! Ship QualityThe ship size was just big enough. The layout made the ship very accecible. Cleanliness of the ship was at its best, in fact I never saw anything dirty at all. Dining/FoodThe dining areas were very well kept up and thats what made the ship so wonderful. The food was excellent and I couldnt have asked for more. Stateroom QualityThe state rooms were very spacious and confortable. It gave our family just enough room for everything we have. Ship Staff QualityShip staff was absolutely AMAZING!! Entertainment & ActivitiesEvery single show was stupendous 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  The best vacation ever... by
Janet G. from Dallas Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Convenience of traveling to several places while staying in one room. No packing and unpacking! Itinerary including activities on ship were very well planned. Dinner in the dining room was fabulous ... enjoyed meeting our dinner mates. Excursions were well planned and endorsed by Carnival. Cons: What I liked least was not within Carnival's control! The drive to and from Galveston was what I liked least. Our room was under a bar so the music was loud but only until midnight which was not a problem for us. The ship was well maintained and activiites were very well organized. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodAlthough there were posted breakfast hours, we often found breakfast even if we were late getting there. Stateroom QualityWe unpacked our suitcases into the hanging closet and shelves/drawers which made living there for a week much easier. Ship Staff QualityThe stateroom staff was excellent - cleaning twice daily and exchanging towels twice daily, as well. The dining room staff was excellent especially when they were attending the seated dinners. The employees in both of these two areas were excellent. Entertainment & ActivitiesVery entertaining. Shows were generally great.

Cozumel, MexicoAnother great port of call. We went snorkling, to the beach and did some shopping. It was my first time snorkeling and others said that it wasn't great but I don't have a reference point. The time went too fast here ... could have been in the water so much longer!
George Town, Grand CaymanIt was beautiful! We went to the beach and had a great day. Will do more active excursions next time.
Montego Bay, JamaicaWe only shopped but heard that the zipline was a must-do next time we visit. Rain is unpredictable but this was the only port of call where it rained.
Don't Miss: Ziplining which we'll definitely do next time. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

First Cruise, and our last by
Jeff M from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Mar 2010Pros: Staff, room with balcony, variety of activities (when available due to crowds) Cons: Food, crowds (especially at ports of call), always someone asking for $$$ We had never been on a cruise and thought we'd give it a try, so take this review with a grain of salt.
The staff was excellent!
The food was very disappointing, barely a step above going to a cafeteria. There were WAY too many people on the ship vs what it was capable of handling without feeling crowded.
They charge for everything, expect you to tip extra, and while the staff was great, Carnival really cheaped out on the food that made it difficult to want to go any extra on the tips. Internet - extra. Soft drinks- extra, Popcorn for the movies - extra, alcohol - extra, pictures - extra. Then they try to sell you every chance they get, and have a tie in with Diamonds International which came across as VERY tacky. Ship QualityDecorations were on the tacky side, but it was clean, and the staff was on top a keeping it that way. Waiting to get off and back on while visiting ports of call used up a LOT of available time. We waited for almost an hour to catch the tender back to the ship at Grand Caymans. Dining/FoodMost disappointing part of the trip. Lots of volume, but short on quality, especially disappointing were the desserts. Stateroom QualityOne of the best parts of the trip. We had adjoining balcony rooms so it was very nice to open them up and watch the sights. Ship Staff QualityTop notch staff, very friendly, making the most out of what they had. Entertainment & ActivitiesDefinitely the part that is most challenging for passengers from babies to seniors. There were a lot of options, but not a lot we had an interest in. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

A very nice relaxing cruise by
A Traveler from Lucas, TX Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: Very well planned Excursions, Cons: there could have been some better daily entertainment during days at sea This was our 3rd cruise and it was much more relaxing, and enjoyable. there was some good nightly entertainment, and a good selection of shore excursions this time. There could have been better menu selection in the main dining rooms, and possibly other options during the daytime for those times that we were at sea all day. Ship Quality

Ship Staff Qualitythey were good, just some communication challenges due to languages Entertainment & Activitiessome of the nightly shows were a bit to much over the top on Adult content, as it got to be to much. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Could not ask for more! by
Chris R from Derby, KS Sailing date: Sep 2007Pros: Friendly Staff and Quality of Service Cons: The cruise had to end The ship was very clean and there were always staff members working on items (like burnt out lights, etc.) to keep it nice without impacting the quests at all. The staff were always curtious and helpful. I look forward to going on this ship again! Ship Quality

  far exceeded expectations by
A Traveler from Switzerland Sailing date: May 2007Pros: very friendly staff - excellent service - good variety of fellow passenger Cons: that the casino closes @ 0315h already :-) my buddy and I travelled with conquest may 13 - may 20. we weren't sure what to expect since this was our first cruise. We tried to find a cruise with a younger crowd but still did not want an party only cruise (we're both at the age of 31). With Carnival Conquest we've found a good mix of a younger more active crowd paired with an excellent service which exceeded our expectations by far. The staff was outstanding and the food was excellent.
Grand Caiman and Cozumel were nice places. Make sure that you book an organized excursion in Jamaica otherwise you won't enjoy it as much - at least we've had the experience (don't know which taxidriver you can trust, people try to sell drugs everyweher even at the beach and while swimming in the ocean).

  Good but not Great! by
A Traveler from Plano, Texas 75093 Sailing date: Feb 2007Pros: New Experience Cons: Lobby and Spa and Room size This was my first sailing in about 10 years, but my friends 5th in more recent years We were very excited about sailing on the Carnival Conquest, but when we boarded we were both amazed at how small the lobby area was. They have made it very tall but it seems so little in actual floor space. It was not grand at all. We were also very disappointed in our room as we had booked an ocean view which was to have a sofa seating area and approx 220 square feet. Our room did not have any sitting area at all and it was not even close to 220sf. The ship was completely booked so there was not even a glimmer of hope to move. When we asked about the discrepency in the room description we were only told..."well, that room should not be sold as that category. Yet they still showed it as the category that we booked. I thought the Entertainment Cruise Director was very low class and very poorly dressed. We had a good time on the ship, but felt it could have been improved with just a few adjustments. Our service in the dining room was fair. They had some variety, but the taste could have definitely been better I thought there was not enough seasonings in most of the foods, and there seemed to be a lot of emphasis on Mexican Food and steak. The buffets up by the pool were nice for lunch and snack and actually had pretty good variety except for breakfast.... there were no breakfast options for meat if you do not eat pork ....Turkey or beef bacon/sausage would have been nice. Also, a switch to biscuits and donuts once in a while would have tasted good. The Deli Sandwiches, The Beef Hot Dogs and the Pizzas up by the pool were all very good. The Spa was nothing to write home about. No robes, shoes, water etc. you expect in a Spa. Every treatment I tried was a "sales pitch" throughout the entire time. You could not relax for being told what you should buy. One lady got up and said she was not going to sit through that. I wish I had. After two tries I did not book anything else. The shopping areas left a lot to be desired. I think because the ship promotes its size so much we expected larger and grander public areas. In my opionion they would be better advised to lower the ceiling on the lobby and expand it, and combine some of the bars into larger areas instead of one every 10 feet, and make the casino larger too. I will take another cruise on another ship and then I can better compare. I am not saying I would never go on the Conquest again, but I will not go again until I try something else first. I like the aspect of sailing, but this trip was just a bit lower classed than I was expecting. The staff did not appear "crisp" to me. Most looked like their uniforms just came out of the wash, not pressed at all. I really enjoyed the clean towels twice a day and the surprise towel animal each night, but I would also have liked clean sheets which I do not believe were changed our entire week. We did enjoy our cruise, but wished it could have been a little different experience. A friend had told me that the Carnival Cruises were known as a lower class, but still fun to take. I guess I should have put more stock in her comment. Go see for yourself. Ship QualityPublic areas were too small especially lobby and casino . Also, it was much too COLD in the public areas and especially in the dining room (Monet) and the lounge and the elevator areas. I think the ship was clean. The large atrium over the lobby made it a little difficult to navigate between Aft and Forward, especially going to dinner in the evening. Dining/FoodFood for dinner in dinning room was average. Some extra seasonings and sauces could have improved the quality a lot. Dining Times were fine with me except breakfast could have been a little later. There could have been more variety at breakfast along with some non pork meat options such as beef or turkey bacon/sausage. Maybe some donuts and biscuits once in a while. I think I was also expecting a litte more "show" for the last night's dining by the staff. I thought the prices for extras like soft drinks and alcohol were very fair, but they vairied in prices from one area to another. Same drink in dining room was more expensive than in the lobby bar. Stateroom QualityI knew the rooms would be small, but we were totally mislead regarding our room based on the category we chose. I tried very specifically to confirm the room we had. We booked a 6B category which was to have sofa, 220sf and large window. That is not what we had. We barely had room to walk into our door, and two twin beds. There was no sofa and no sitting area. This should not be. You should be able to at least know what you are getting. Ship Staff QualityI did not feel anyone went over and beyond but they were friendly. I did not see a lot of eye contact, but when asked they always did help. Our evening waitor was very friendly. There were a few expceptions of very friendly staff, but I did not see that as an over all trait. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe really enjoyed the wine tasting and the afternoon tea. The shows were average each night. We had a lot of fun on the Mardi Gras Night with the Red, White and Blue competition. Band at the pool was good in the afternoons, and if you wanted to nap you could move away. I never found anywhere to listen to any type of music of the Frank Sinatra era. 68 out of 88 people found this review helpful.
