Good cruise by

Dining/FoodThe food was good, however this was the first time we did open seating and the waits were too long. we asked the maitre'd to give us assigned time it but he was not able to. Stateroom QualityWe had a balcony stateroom that was very comfortable. Ship Staff Qualityeveryone provided excellent service except a couple of employees working the buffet on the lido deck. they were not courteous and seemed to be bothered. Entertainment & Activities

San Juan, Puerto RicoWe were very disappointed with this tour. a 4.5 hour tour turned into a a 6.5 hour tour. The driver had no concern for the passengers. we were not able to see any of old san juan because of this tour. Do not recommend at all.

  Lots of fun & lots of crowds! by

The ship was beautiful and every area was immaculate--at least for most of the day. The food was delicious and there were lots of alternatives to the traditional dining room. I especially liked the adults-only pool area and hot tubs.
Having said that, there was no way to get a deck chair anywhere close to either pool unless we arrived by 8 am and didn't leave for more than a few minutes. There is a policy of not being allowed to save chairs, but that didn't stop many other passengers from doing just that! When I showed up at 9 am one morning every chair around both pools and the decks anywhere close to the pools were marked as taken with towels--but no one was in any of them and the ship's staff did nothing about it! We had almost no opportunity to get in the hot tubs in any areas as they were almost always full--I think we got in them twice in seven days.
We wanted to try the deli, burrito bar, and stir-fry station but rarely had the opportunity as there seemed to be long lines much of the time. I waited 15 mins for a burrito, and probably as long or longer another day for a stir-fry. The deli might have been a 10-min wait in early afternoon. We couldn't even get close to the midnight buffet because of the crowds and lines! Ship QualityThe ship is huge! Cleanliness, condition of public areas, etc, etc all fine, although sometimes the bathrooms would get pretty bad by late afternoon to early evening, especially in the pool areas. I really liked everything and blew off the negatives. Dining/FoodHarry's restaurant ($30 extra) worth every penny! Food, service & ambiance in the main dining room (Silver Olympian) was superb, and the nightly showtimes in the dining room added to the experience. Our waitstaff gave us outstanding service.
Although there were many more dining options available (pizza, deli, burrito, buffet) often they were not much of an option because of long waits (other than the buffet). Food selection for the buffet at Emile's was excellent, and I really liked the way they changed things every day and always had an international line. Stateroom QualityWe had a balcony stateroom and found it very comfortable and immaculately clean. The steward was unobtrusive but every time we went out, the room was freshened up before we returned. Ship Staff QualityMost of the staff was excellent and well above & beyond. The exceptions were at the grill & bar near the main pool. My husband asked for a tonic water a certain way and they ignored his request...he asked at the grill for a well-done hamburger and asked them to put it back on the grill & they actually refused to do so! The pizzeria lost his order as well, so he didn't have a chance to eat before going on an excursion. But I don't want to blow these annoyances out of proportion, because the service in the main dining room was amazing, as was at Harry's and also around the ship in general. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Awesome Cruise!!!! by

The food was amazing. The staff- very helpful. The eastern caribbean cruise was awesome- the ports were very exciting. Make sure to have lots of camera space. Good idea to get an underwater camera. The shows were great... There are tons of things to do while at sea.... The view from the spa deck rooms are amazing (ceiling to floor window!!!!) Ship QualityThe ship was decorating very elegantly... very clean and spacious!!! Dining/FoodVery great food. Large selection Stateroom QualityExcellent!!!!... spa deck is the way to go. Ship QualityThe ship was absolutly gorgeous and one of the fanciest, yet fun and thrilling ships I had ever been on! Dining/FoodThe food staff was excellent!! The food was all around great!! Though some things wernt the best. But above all, everything was creative and delicious! Ship Staff QualityThe entire staff was outstanding. Always very fast with everything, and very efficiant, also incredible polite in every single way! Entertainment & ActivitiesThe entertainment on the Liberty was fascinating! Every night, we watched shows, and they were great preformences! The activities avalible to do during the day were fun for the most part, sometimes a little bit repetitive, but it was exciting for everyone most of the time! Carnival has done it again!!! by
A Traveler from MI Sailing date: Dec 2006Pros: Spacious Cabin, fabulous servers, beautiful ship Cons: Grand Cayman was very disappointing The ship was huge and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Main dining room food was great with many choices and as many servings as you would like. If you do not prefer sit down dinner there is the buffet, deli, oriental place, the grille, and the pizzeria to give you a sampling of the choices. From the dancing waiters to the animal towels in our room, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The entertainment was excellent and since we went a week before Christmas the ship was nicely decorated for the holiday. They even had a holiday show where all the children from camp carnival went on stage and sang songs. I do think there could have been a larger variety of shows and show times. The casino was always booming, karaoke was fun, and the there were plenty of pools and one even had a slide which was a big hit. However, we did a cruise and shopping tour in the Bahamas and were very disappointed. We only had an hour to shop and were told to be back by 11:00 a.m. because if we missed the bus back we would miss the boat. This is the only thing I could understand from the cruise tour guy and he repeated it at least 15 times. We were there by 10:45 a.m. and by 11:45 a.m. the bus driver was still not there to pick us up. We began to panic because there was no one to call to get help. Finally the bus driver arrived. We reported this incident to carnival but they seemed not to care and on the last day we finally received a letter of apology from them (not that it did much good). Also, Grand Cayman was awful. There were 7 cruise ships docked there so it was way too crowded. We thought this would be the best stop but it turned out to be the worst. I was highly impressed with Costa Maya. The shopping was great and we did the dolphin swim which was way worth the cost. There is something for everyone! Overall highly recommended!!!!
Ship QualityThe ship is only a year old. Not much wear and tear. Dining/FoodCarnival covers everyone's dinning preferences pretty well. Loved the main dining food. (Warm chocolate melting cake was my favorite) Stateroom QualityWe had an ocean view room for the 3 of us and out of my four cruises these staterooms have been the nicest. Two of the couples we cruised with had balconies which were very nice and spacious. One couple had an interior room. For two people an interior is fine as long as you are not Closter phobic. Shampoo and soap dispenser were installed in the shower and a basket of goodies, like toothpaste and razors, were also provided. Loved the towel animals!!! Ship Staff QualityOur waiters at dinner were the best!!!!!!!!! :) All other staff was good too. Everyone was willing to help you. However, The bar attendant at dinner did not speak very good English and he kept messing up our drink orders. They should consider retraining him or putting him behind the scenes where there is minimal interaction with the guests. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe singers and dancers were phenomenal. The costumes were great. There needed to be at least two show times a day. They also could have more variety like on one of my cruises they had a magician and on another they brought guests to come onboard and sing whereas on this one there were none. 67 out of 71 people found this review helpful.
